You are arguing that pay determines which muscle groups will hurt which won't... Should he be able to pitch too?

Nope, but for 15 million I'm expecting that he will be ready to play any position within reason, especially considering he was our starting 3rd baseman at one point. Why do we expect that of Bonifacio among others but not Jose?

asked myself this :P i dont think a stiff back is a good reason to sit out, id think playing would be good to stretch it out and keep it working, but idk how it works

Because Boni is a utility player, Jose has been full time RF for over two seasons, when he took over at 3rd briefly he took 2-3 days to transition. Earlier you suggested he wanted "every other series" off, I think 2-3 games is one series at best and when he asked for time to get accustomed he still played in right those nights so ya, I think you are over reacting a bit.

Lind used to play left, would you run him out there tonight and expect him to be fine because he used to play that position regularly?

Not if playing injures it worse and you end up losing significant time, losing three games is a lot better than 15.

I've always been told, the best medicine for back pain, is to excercise

but I assume Jays' doctors are smarter than what I've read

It seems like you think these guys show up for games. Their lives are baseball. Take a few grounders once in a while. Be ready. No one expects you to pitch or catch, but you honestly think its a bad thing if a player who has shown the ability to play multiple positions is ready to play them? I think that makes you a better player and definitely helps the team.

I wasn't over reacting, you guys just made it an argument. I said he was letting me down by sitting out in a time of need and I stand by that. This team needed a good start. There's 15k in the stands now and we're under .500. Just a typical Jays season.

You could still be right, but playing in a mlb game may not quite be the type of 'exercise' he needs :)
