I'll do a daily Favored/Underdog pick.
Keep in mind this is all opinion, just like everyone else's locks.
Obviously the favored pick is going to be a safer pick.
All picks are ML. These are not the safest picks as heavy favorites are generally better.
Note: I will not pick a favored team over -199 (2:1 is ez to call locks)
____ : I will not pick an underdog team under +114 (1:1.1 isn't really underdog, basically even)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7/7 Picks:
Teams eliminated: Cubs, Mets, Nationals, Rays, Angels, Twins, Athletics
Favored
@ ASTROS -121 (D. Fister) > ATHLETICS +111 (R. Hill)
We're riding the hot team boys.
I think Hill is the better pitcher, but the Astros convey a much more aggressive offense.
Astros are 11-15 vs LHP, Athletics are 27-37 vs RHP.
Astros are 26-17 at home (better than on road), Athletics are 19-23 on road (better than at home).
Astros are 14-3 last 17 games, 9-2 last 11 at home, and 4-1 last 5 against Athletics.
Athletics are 1-6 last 6 games but 7-3 last 10 on the road.. but 0-5 last 5 @ Astros.
Doug Fister (R), I don't even know her: 8-5, 3.66 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 64k, 33bb (last 3: CHW 4.2ip 9h 5er, @KC 6.2ip 8h 4er, LAA 7ip 4h 2er)
Rich Hill (L) ------------------------------- : 8-3, 2.31 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 80k, 26bb (last 3: PIT 6ip 4h 2er, DET 6.1ip 5h 2er, @SEA 8ip 8h 0er)
Underdog
BRAVES +230 (L. Harrell) > @ CUBS -280 (J. Hammel)
It's all about that value y'all. Warning: Homer pick
I think Hammel is the better pitcher, but Cubs have a tendency to lose against bad teams and have lost 5 straight with Hammel (1 to ATL and only 1 against a good team).
Braves are 19-35 vs RHP, Cubs are 33-23 vs RHP.
Braves are 15-23 on road (better than at home), Cubs are 26-13 at home (better than on road)
Braves are 1-5 last 6 games, 1-4 last 5 on the road (7-3 last 10 with RL on the road), and 2-9 last 11 against the Cubs.
Cubs are 1-6 last 7 games, 1-5 last 6 at home, but 5-1 last 6 at home against Braves.
Lucas Harrell (R)--: 1-0, 1.50 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 5k, 1bb (last 1: MIA 6ip 3h 1er)
Jason Hammel (R): 7-5, 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 73k, 29bb (last 3: @NYM 4ip 9h 10er, @MIA 6ip 4h 2er, STL 5.2ip 6h 4er)
