Nothing wrong with him....he is an above replacement catcher. I am sure he is excited to be back in Toronto where he can bring in that pop. He is also a lot younger than I thought

We already have one catcher struggling to hit his weight. Also paying 6mil to a backup catcher is sort of dumb when we could be paying 600k to Wilson and using that 5mil to sign someone else.

I hope you aren't talking about batting average...lol....
What is this? 1990s?
JP went down to injuries last year, and if it happens again this year, John Buck is far greater to replace him over Wilson.

His contract is bad, yes, I agree, but that is something the Marlins clearly wanted to get rid of so he was included in the trade (As a liability that the Jays had to pick up).
Now that we have him, and I dont think many teams want him at this point, I think he is a great addition for us.

Don't need JP, Buck AND d'arnaud

trade whoever has more value (JP at this point) to stock up on the bullpen and its finally time for d'arnaud to play in the big league he's been ready for a while now

I would hold three to be safe...
If one guy dies/slumps like a boss, you got another to come up.
No guarantee that D'Arnaud is gonna hit any better than Buck or JP. I know nothing about him, but MLB experienced players come before prospects all-day err-day in my book.

You really don't need three catchers though, especially with someone that has good trace value as Arencibia
d'arnaud already has a better bat than JP and a tree can block the plate better than JP

I think a tree could block the plate better than any catcher

Batting average isn't the most important stat, but for an everyday player barely passing .200 (although I think he ended up around .230 this year) is not exciting. Buck, on the other hand, ended around .197 which is an issue. He also walked fewer times than he hit home runs last year, and I believe this time as well. Do I think J. P. can improve a lot, yes? Buck, not really. I have no problem sticking it out with Arencibia, but not really interested in Buck.

Rumour is that Texas may wany Buck and I'd say do it.

Arencibia was up to .250 before he broke his hand.

I think he will pan out, but I also think he came up a bit early. I think it is fairly unlikely either go at this point, but one never knows.
