Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca writes that Brian Butterfield is still a candidate for the Blue Jays manager job, despite joining John Farrell's staff in Boston.
The Blue Jays were unable to make any promises to their coaches as they search for a new manager, so Butterfield joined the Red Sox as their third base coach. However, he has an out-clause in his contract that allows him to pursue managerial openings. Butterfield and bench coach Don Wakamatsu are believed to be the main internal options to replace Farrell, but Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos is also considering some outside candidates, including Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach, Orioles third base coach DeMarlo Hale, Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar, Jr. and Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams.
