Also the Astros didn't keep Josh Hader, their best pitching prospect in the minor leagues right now (once McCullers was called up), But at least they kept A.J. Reed, a guy with monstrous power who I would argue should be called up to play some first base or DH already the way Chris Carter and Jon Singleton are stinking up the joint.

We have freakin' Luis Valbuena starting at first base tonight with Lowrie playing third base (first MLB game since April 28).

A.J. Reed could come up now and likely hit better than .205, .200 and .185 the batting averages of Singleton, Valbuena and Carter. And Reed would offer the same amount of big-time power. But worst of all, Mark Appel wasn't dealt and he's not progressing at Triple-A. He may never make the show at this pace.

Sigh, almost game time. Time to sweep the Angels. Scott Kazmir is making his home debut. I'm tired of talking prospects. Just win, baby!

Damn! I didn't see his name included on Ken Rosenthal's last tweet. I thought it was just Houser. I edited. Now I'm upset!!!! We should have gotten a legitimate all-star using a package of Brett Phillips and Josh Hader. A win tonight would make feel better.

Brett Phillips is going to become one of the best outfielders in baseball in a few years. Really sucks to see him dealt. The Brewers got a real gem. Domingo Santana was hitting over .250 with a couple home runs this year before the Astros sent him back down. I wanted to see more of him when Springer got hurt but they made the right choice starting Preston Tucker. He offers more consistent power.

We drafted Kyle Tucker, his younger brother, 5th overall in this past draft.
I guess the Astros are confident enough he can eventually become as good as Brett Phillips.

Also, we stole Daz Cameron in the second round. The Astros may have a couple more elite prospect outfielders in another year or two.

Kind of like Mark Appel was gonna be an ace the year after he got drafted, right?

Now Brewers fans can celebrate. That's a lot better than what they were getting from the Mets, even if Fiers was involved.

The Dodgers announced that they’ve designated four players — Mike Morse, Brandon Beachy, Chris Heisey and Chin-hui Tsao — for assignment in order to clear 40-man roster spot for Alex Wood, Mat Latos, Luis Avilan, Jim Johnson and Jose Peraza. A fifth 40-man roster spot was freed up by placing Chris Hatcher on the 60-day DL. Peraza was optioned to Triple-A, and Bronson Arroyo, also acquired in today’s 13-player trade, was placed on the 60-day DL.

wtf?

And the Cubs selected Mark Bryant with the next pick. Don't remind me! At least Carlos Correa has panned out. 20 years old, putting up superstar numbers and making the impossible defensive plays seem routine. Some people are already saying he's the best shortstop in the game but it's way too soon. Roughly 50 games in the big leagues. That guy on ESPN said he'll be the best player in baseball in a few years. I don't know if you can expect a shortstop to surpass Mike Trout.

But to be fair to Mark Appel he had an appendectomy surgery which caused him to slowly come back last year. He's barely getting his velocity back a year later. It's alarming that he has over a 5 ERA at Triple-A right now but his last few starts have been encouraging. Until he reaches the big leagues I don't want to label him a bust just yet.
