He's already pitched a bit for the Rays awhile back. I can see him matching Guthrie's production tbh. I don't see why Lindstrom had to be included. He was really solid last year too :/ weakens the bullpen quite a bit.

he will suck because he is on the Orioles.
has nothing to do with him imo.

but this trade is not as bad as it looks. I like Lindstrom, always have. dude has weird ass numbers though.

I guess Lindstrom wasn't really a fit for the Rockies pen anymore anyways. He's more of a closer/setup guy. Already got the killer B's ( :) ) Betancourt/Belisle/Brothers for that. Easily replaceable by Putnam and eventually Bettis maybe.

If he actually incorporated his slider a bit more, he might miss more bats for someone that throws 98mph.

yea it's a good trade imo for you guys. Guthrie is finally out of the AL East. I expect a pretty decent gain in value now.

This is my opinion on the trade which i posted on ON:

Not the greatest trade I have ever seen...

But I will say this. Guthrie was not going to be on the club next year most likely. The Orioles apparently think that Hammel and Lindstrom both fill roles on the club that they lacked. I like Lindstrom actually and welcome him to the Bullpen. I don't think Hammel is or ever will be as good as Guthrie. But I think the fans are overreacting a bit to this trade.

Yes, the Orioles could and should have gotten some young and controllable talent. I think we can all agree on that. But as it seems, no one was interested in giving that up for him.

So while I do not think this trade is good by any means, I do not think it is as bad as people are making it out to be.
The rotation is going to be EXTREMELY exciting to watch now. I can't wait to see what happens in ST

They must feel that someone is going to step up and fill those ~200 innings that the trade left

Needed a new nickname for guys in the pen since the 3 Matts are no more lol. Lindstrom was hard to watch sometimes. One of those guys who has you on edge every outing.

Also freed up like $2.6m in salary. Sum Oswalt jajaja. Chacin/Oswalt/Guthrie/Nicasio/Pomeranz. Rotation of the "what ifs?"
