It doesn't.

At the time I wasn't impressed with his secondary pitches.

As he was leading the league in swing and miss %

Must of been that fastball he was missing those bats with.

The White Sox are flipping the script and aggressively pursuing a bat, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports on Twitter. Among the many players they’ve inquired about, per the report, is Yoenis Cespedes of the Tigers.

It remains unclear at present precisely where the club would like to add. Cespedes, of course, is a rental outfielder, but Chicago has received fairly marginal production at almost every spot on the diamond. First base (Jose Abreu) and center field (Adam Eaton) seem to be the only two positions where an upgrade would not make any real sense, though obviously the team is unlikely to replace veterans like Alexei Ramirez (at short) and Melky Cabrera (in the outfield). That Cespedes holds interest seems to suggest that Chicago is willing to take time away from Avisail Garcia and/or Adam LaRoche (the team’s right fielder and primary DH, respectively).

More importantly, perhaps, is the question of what kind of price the club might be willing to pay to get something done and whether the team is considering a move for controllable assets. Chicago is not exactly in an enviable position, though the team has played better of late. The division-rival Tigers are selling despite the fact that they are only one game behind Chicago in the standings. The White Sox are 11.5 games back of the leading Royals, and remain two-and-a-half out of Wild Card position.

With the team pursuing a bat, it would seem highly unlikely that righty Jeff Samardzija will be moved.

Hmmm. Dunno why the White Sox are so intent in adding a bat, I mean they could make WC. But it'll be very tough to do so.

Cool. I was wrong about that. Too bad he's not doing shit this year.

Anyways...

You guys keep bringing up the past like its gonna happen again. This is why you guys need to stop your revisionist history bullshit... Gomez won't put up another 8.4 WAR again. If he does, then shit he definitely proved me wrong, but he looked extremely fatigued and winded, and narrowly missed landing on the DL this year.

I'm not saying Puig is better than Gomez, but I would rather take on Puig's reasonable contract in hopes he will make up for it. Which he can in my mind, considering his high ceiling, and fiery attitude.

We give you Shit because your arguments contradict themselves.

If you just came out and said "I don't know why, but I like player A more than player B regardless of stats", wed get off your back a bit.

Fine.

I like Puig more than Gomez, because I'm afraid his injury is far more serious than we know. I would rather have a player with a high ceiling on a cost controllable contract, than one that could potentially leave us in a year and half while asking for the moon. I'm not concerned that much about Wheeler's injuries, because he has been cleared a few times to throw and pitch.

I have contradicted myself a few times on my posts. But I still stand by my statement I would still take Puig and Cespedes over Gomez this year. I've been watching him a few times, and he looks really sluggish, reminds me of how badly Lagares need to be taken off the field so he can have surgery. I know the Brewers have the best medical doctors, but I don't think Alderson would stir up the pot this much to cause a shit storm, if he wasn't dead set on acquiring Gomez.

The Toronto Blue Jays are still shopping for starting pitching despite already acquiring David Price on Wednesday, according to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish.

“According to an organizational source, the team is still looking at options on the trade market, with both rotation and bullpen options on the table.”

“Two options that the Jays could look at are Padres’ righty Andrew Cashner and Mets’ lefty Jon Niese, according to a source.”

Jays apparently reached out to the Mets, but there hasn't been any huge talks as of late.

JULY 30: Holliday has been placed on the disabled list, and GM John Mozeliak has announced that he has Grade 2 strain of the quadriceps muscle, per MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch (Twitter link). Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweets that the Cardinals have no plans to jump back into the outfield trade market, however.

The Yankees are set to acquire outfielder Dustin Ackley from the Mariners, reports the YES Network’s Jack Curry (All Twitter links). Outfield prospect Ramon Flores is headed to Seattle, as will right-hander Jose Ramirez, according to Curry. Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News had previously connected the Yankees to Ackley.
