i agree it should have been an arm.
I do like our signing of Wei-Yin Chen. He could be a solid 3-4-5 guy imo

That signing of Chen is definitely a much bigger and better step than getting Blue Jay misfits like Dana Eveland and JoJo Reyes

lol totally. Eveland is probably the only move i question from Duquette so far. pretty dumb to give up a decent RP prospect for him, although he could end up being a decent long relief option.
Good thing is that one of the first moves he made was to non-tender jo-jo reyes rofl

id like it but, he would probably not sign here and we also need to have some form of rebuild. At least chen is 26 and could be a solid piece for the future.

41 lol.
i dunno, if you guys think you are going to contend, he is not a terrible piece.
He is an easy DFA if he sucks though.

Not a chance, I think the team as a whole would be satisfied with the same numbers as last year. I'll take .500.
Had we made a splash on Fielder or Yu, then that would show that contention is in the mind of the GM.
Orioles need some long relievers that can transition to a setup or basic relief role

i think we are fine on that front with Simon, Bergesen, Patton, Wada, maybe eveland.

Our bullpen as of now for me would be:

Jim Johnson
Pedro Strop
Kevin Gregg (uuuguuhugughuhuuguhuh)
Alfredo Simon
Darren O'day
Troy Patton
Eveland/Bergesen/Hunter (whoever doesnt make the rotation, which i like Bergesen the most in LR and think Hunter will make the rotation)

I think our bullpen is fine besides Gregg obviously.
JJ/Strop/Simon/ is a fine backend for us at this point, and Gregg can be an alright pitcher if not closing lol (really though, fuck him)

O'day is effective if used correctly

Orioles Add Ray Poitevint As Executive Director of International Baseball

By: Tucker Blair
Published: January 9, 2012 4:49 pm

The Orioles have officially added Ray Poitevint as Executive Director of International Baseball, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports. Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun also broke rumor to this signing earlier.

Poitevint has been in baseball for over 50 years, and is widely known as a big figure in international scouting. Some names that he has signed are former Orioles’ pitcher Dennis Martinez, and reportedly Eddie Murray.

One could make the assumption that Poitevint has been working with the Orioles this off-season due to the fact that they have been very active in the Asian market already. The Orioles have already come to terms with two NPB pitchers, Tsuyoshi Wada and Chen Wei-Yin.
