You were crying about what you gave up to get Gomez last night....can you imagine what it would take to get puig.

No shit Sherlock, giving up Wheeler a cost controlled pitcher for 3-4 years for Gomez who has been awful this year? Don't give me that 2 years removed from Allstar bullshit. There's no guarantee he could bounce back, and if the medical report was true, then I'm glad we moved on. For a guy who's supposedly the best all around player, his hitting has been bad, and 8 HRs is laughable.

I wouldn't mind overpaying for Puig, who is a bonafide superstar, and is signed through 2018.

bonafide superstar?

He's played 300 games in his career and his batting .254/.326/.433/.759 with 7 HR in like 60 games this year

So wait. No guarantees Gomez gets back to form, but your control plagued pitcher who sat out all year due to elbow surgery is more of a sure bet?

That "almost" trade was a steal for the Mets.

It wasn't a steal for the Mets. It was a pretty good deal for the Mets, plus for some reason the Brewers really liked Flores. They chose him over Lagares and Nimmo. Both sides benefited, the Brewers don't really have much negotiating power considering their desire need to trade CarGo.

I would certainly take Puig over Gomez any day.

1) I'm most certain Puig will at least bounce back from his slump.

2) And what was Gomez's WAR the past 3 years? Hes been declining gradually. Hes on a reasonable contract, but after a year and half, Boras is going to milk him.

3) Puig plays in a far harder division.

Dude the first season Gomez got full time AB's he put a 8.4 WAR the season after that? 4.8.

The HIGHEST WAR Puig has had in his CAREER is 5.4 so go on tell me how Puig is so much better.

Puig might have a higher ceiling but he's not better right now.

Dude the first season Gomez got full time AB's he put a 8.4 WAR the season after that? 4.8.

The HIGHEST WAR Puig has had in his CAREER is 5.4 so go on tell me how Puig is so much better.

You guys keep bringing up the past like its gonna happen again. This is why you guys need to stop your revisionist history bullshit... Gomez won't put up another 8.4 WAR again. If he does, then shit he definitely proved me wrong, but he looked extremely fatigued and winded, and narrowly missed landing on the DL this year.

I'm not saying Puig is better than Gomez, but I would rather take on Puig's reasonable contract in hopes he will make up for it. Which he can in my mind, considering his high ceiling, and fiery attitude.

Not much has gone right for the Brewers this season, but it least appears their hopes that center fielder Carlos Gomez will avoid a stint on the disabled list is coming true.

Craig Counsell has stated that Gomez is "heading in the right direction" in his recovery from hip and groin issues and that he could be back in the lineup as early as Tuesday.

"It's just to get over the hump of this thing," Counsell said, per MLB.com. "They tested him pretty good today during batting practice, and then he'll have a day to recover. But we're moving in the right direction, so it's just best to wait though the off-day."

Gomez has missed all but three games since June 9.

So over/under a week before Olivera makes pro debut?

I know Braves were aggressively pursuing this guy in the offseason and I'm pretty sure I didn't really want him due to his age.
I was fairly certain we would sign him though because we traded La Stella basically for overseas money (forget what its called) and had every hint that we were going to get him.

Losing Wood sucks really bad. He was one of my favorite pitchers on the team and a solid lefty. Yes, his delivery is unique, but you can't chalk EVERY pitcher up as tommy john like these critics do.
Honestly, this makes the Braves a better team.. it's just really hard to overlook the age.
I'll sign back on Madmartigan for now, for the rest of you have a blessed day.

e: Someone should search my post history for things I said about Olivera half a year ago.

It doesn't.

At the time I wasn't impressed with his secondary pitches.
