Jeter is hitting a lot better than Swisher/Posada though...

I have a feeling Pineda will rape us, we suck against pitchers we haven't faced before, and Pineda is a stud.

Pineda is doing filthy and ya, we struggle against people we haven't faced before.
And Jeter has been playing terrible again as of late..

His ETA is this year.  He is on the 40 man since he got a MLB deal out of the draft.  Every team knew that Brackman was due for TJS and that was the only reason Brackman fell to the Yankees on draft day.  He was very much the best arm in that draft on a lot of people's boards.  Post TJS, he had control problems(6.4 BB/9) which isn't uncommon after major elbow surgery.  He corrected a lot of those flaws last year(2.5 BB/9) and was able to make the jump from High A Tampa, all the way to the SWB playoff rotation.  He was drawing raves this ST but he hasn't had a great year in SWB so far and a lot of his control problems appear to be back(5.9 BB/9) and he isn't missing as many bats(6.1 K/9).  It is alarming for sure but to be fair, it's not easy for a guy his size(6'11") to repeat his delivery since there are so many moving parts.  Even though he is already 25, Yankees still have him under control until 2013 so there is no rush to get him to the big leagues yet.  Guys like David Phelps, Hector Noesi, and Ryan Pope are ahead of him in the depth chart.

damn :( appreciate the in-depth response. really want him to make it, but yeah I guess only if the time is right. would hate to see him rushed up and sent back down.

are they treating him as relief or a starter? he was our ace at State starting a majority of the games, but hell I could see him becoming an amazing setup guy. 6'11'' staring you down throwing high 90's.

He is definitely being looked at as a starter right now and is starting in AAA atm. He may end up being a reliever though due in part that neither his fastball or curve are in the same league they were pre-surgery. His fastball, once 96-98, is now 92-94. His curve used to be a knee buckling knuckle curve and is now more of your classic loopy breaking ball with tighter rotation. His changeup is still in its developmental stages and ultimately will decide his role as a starter or reliever longterm.
