So, here are some of my thoughts for the offseason.
We obviously need pitching. However, signing free agents probably will not come easy for us, thus we have to trade for pitching.
Optimally, I would like someone with experience near the top of the rotation, or a pitcher who is about to break out after a bad year.
Perhaps "home town advantage" could play a factor, with people from Maryland for Virginia.
Who should we go after? Gavin Floyd.
He's from Maryland, he's still in his late-20s, and can easily put in 200 IP for us.
He's also a Jeremy Guthrie type... someone who doesn't walk batters often, gives up the home run from time to time, and gets no run support from the offense.
His 12 wild pitches would probably go down too...
Floyd would be a definite upgrade to our rotation, but then again, we'd have to look at the cost of what we'd have to give up to the White Sox.
We can't afford a #1 top of the rotation type, so why not have three #2 starters?
Thoughts?
