Who is your catcher right now? Truth be told the Astros could use Jonathan Lucroy the most out of all those teams.
A catcher that can hit .300 with an OPS of .850 with decent power that can drive in runs seems like a dream to me.
But with at least a handful of teams chasing him his price tag is going to be a costly one.
We have the worst catchers, as an organization, in all of baseball. Jason Castro is hitting .217.
We're so desperate at catcher we moved DH Evan Gattis behind the plate to split some time with Castro, and he hadn't played catcher in over two years because when he did play catcher back in Atlanta it took a toll on his bad knees. And Gattis is only hitting .221 himself.
Jonathan Lucroy could literally turn our glaring weakness into a strength.
But sadly, I think we need to add another viable starting pitcher instead.
More pressing needs I think: Starting pitcher and a lefty reliever.
And plus the Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers acquisitions that we made with the Brewers last year...
That trade hasn't exactly panned out all that well. Carlos Gomez has hit poorly (.216) and is injury prone.
Mike Fiers has been good enough as a back-end starter but we gave up a lot of prospects for a #5 starter.
Good luck to the team that acquires Jonathan Lucroy. You guys are lucky.
