I'd go so far as to say the Astros may go 40-122 this year. I think we could lose 120 this year. Quote me on that. Re-post it in September.

Quoted.

Edit: I say 67-95

If we lose less than 100 games I'd be thrilled to death. I just don't see it happening with all of the tough American League West games being played. Would that 67-95 record be enough to have the 1st overall pick for a third straight year? I think the Marlins may be around that record so I don't know if it's really worth it to lose out on a top pick in the draft.

We have the salary to sign several number one overall picks with our joke of a payroll so I'd rather see it put to good use, starting with Mark Appel this June. The Pirates were unable to sign him last year but you better believe the Astros will. Carlos Correa, Mark Appel, and whoever we select number one overall in 2014.

We could potentially become the first big league team to have three number one overall picks in the draft playing on opening day by as early as 2016. The Nationals recently became the 3rd team that did it with two players, Strasburg and Harper this past opening day. I'm talking about doing it with three players (number one overall guys) which is unheard of.

I'll just leave this here...

It hasn't taken long for the 2013 version of the Houston Astros to make it into baseball's history book. And as you'd expect, not in a good way.

After being on the wrong side of Yu Darvish's near-perfect game on Tuesday, then being shut out again on Wednesday — this time 4-0 by Alexi Ogando and the Texas Rangers — the Astros have set a record for most strikeouts in a three-game series to start a season. And they don't even have Mark Reynolds on their roster!

The Astros K'd 43 times against the Rangers. That's 13 on Sunday (a game Houston won) and 15 on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Through three games, here are the Astros' individual strike-out leaders: Brett Wallace (8), Chris Carter (7), Carlos Pena (6), Rick Ankiel and Justin Maxwell (5 each). The next highest strikeout total through the first three games of a season is 34 by the 2007 Atlanta Braves. Five other teams have started a season with three straight games of double-digit strikeouts. The Astros can stand alone in futility if they make it four straight and strikeout 10 or more times Friday against the Oakland Athletics.

The sad thing is we have better hitters in the minor leagues. I think it's going to get worse unless we can clone Jose Altuve or call up George Springer and Delino DeShields Jr. Both are ready for the big leagues and had an excellent spring training. But the Astros don't want them up right now for two reasons - they actually do want to tank for a third straight number one overall pick and also they don't want their MLB club control time to start yet.

I would call up Jonathan Singleton as soon as his 50-game suspension for smoking marijuana is over as well. He's the third everyday player who is ready right now besides Springer and DeShields Jr. Carlos Correa, Ariel Ovando and Domingo Santana are still two years away at the earliest. All three are just too young right now but that's a bright future we have.

We have tons of talent in the minor leagues in terms of position players. Guys who can actually hit and not strike out so much.

1-5 is on pace for 5-25 which is on pace for 10-50 and 20-100. My math may be off but this season is going to be ugly.

I watched a few minutes of the game today. That's about all I needed to see to realize it would be another loss.

I no longer enjoy the games though. Watching an Astros game just makes me feel even more depressed.

I will always watch their games no matter what, but it sucks knowing that every game, i expect us to lose.

The only bright spot is watching the Astros get the 1st overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft for a third straight year next June.

I'm excited to watch this year's MLB Draft on the MLB Network on June the 6th.
