Tonight is a perfect example of why the Red Sox should've gone after a starter at the deadline. Hard to see Sale coming back and being an ace, so your best pitcher is Eovaldi, and you get nights like this from him sometimes.

/e They can still go far, but it's going to be harder without reliable starters.

Chaim Bloom should be here to a. draft well b. sign good international talent and c. get the best value out of trades. But when you're the Boston Red Sox you need to spend in free agency and give up prospects to get elite talent. So while the price for Berrios and Scherzer was high, you have to be able to part with it. Just look at the Red Sox top 10 prospects in 2013:
1. Xander Bogaerts
2. Jackie Bradley
3. Allen Webster
4. Henry Owens
5. Matt Barnes
6. Anthony Ranaudo
7. Garin Cecchini
8. Trey Ball
9. Bryce Brentz
10. Blake Swihart

Wouldn't you give up any combination of 2-10 to get Berrios or Scherzer?
