The Astros are going to make a big financial profit this season. Maybe close to $100 million due to their new major network deal with the Houston Rockets on CSN Houston, and they're going to draw a decent attendance even with a shitty team. And they have a $20 million payroll - the lowest in baseball.

And we're in a big market, 4th largest city in US. There is no excuse for the Astros payroll not to be closer to $150 million in a couple years. They'll be able to sign 4 or 5 good free agents to big contracts to help their young talent.

It's almost by design, the Astros new owner Jim Crane has ordered his front office to strip this team to joke status at the moment. He's a smart businessman and is about to make some major dollars this year. He's already made $35 million from advertisement deals. All of those ads at Minute Maid Park. Did you see like 20 signs in left center field?

Stack up on another first overall pick in the mean time. More high draft picks equals better farm system. The Astros went from 30th ranked organization back in 2009 to top 5 right now. A few more drafts could put them as the best minor league system in baseball.

I know what the Astros are doing. It's a good strategy but it sucks for the fans right now. In a few years it will reap the rewards though.

We already broke two MLB records for being struck out 15 times during consecutive shutouts (first time ever that has happened in the live-ball ERA), and also the most times struck out in an opening three-game series (43 times). I can't wait to see what Oakland's pitching staff has in store for us this weekend. I have a bad feeling the Astros are going to be swept and drop to 1-5 on the season before they go on their first road trip. Which they will see Felix Hernadez and the Seattle Mariners. That should be fun.

It's possible the Astros may lose their next 12 games in a row: 3 vs. Athletics, 3 at Mariners, 3 at Angels, 3 at Athletics. Yep. 1-14 record I think. I totally expect an 0-9 road trip following the home stand anyways. Perhaps we'll be lucky and beat a decent but not great Mariners team once or twice. They are not as good as the Rangers, Angels and Athletics but King Felix may toss a perfect game on us during his start.

I doubt we will even compete in any of the next 12 games. We were pumped for Opening Night. That's about it. Bud Norris and Lucas Harrell are horrible road pitchers. Our offense right now is the worst in MLB history. We may win the Bud Norris start against Oakland and maybe one game against Seattle (when King Felix doesn't pitch). I almost feel like Bud Selig should order the Astros to call up their top prospects right now. It shouldn't be allowed for teams to purposedly hold down better talent because they don't want their club control timer to start. If those young guys dominated this spring they should be up right now.

Opening Night was special. First American League game and the Astros won their 4,000th game in franchise history. We will be stuck at 4,000 wins for the next few weeks. LOL
