honestly, i think the o's need to try and trade markakis for anything they can get this offseason. he's set to make $15 million next year. think about it, $15 mil for a rf with a .754ops in the AL east ... yeah, that's sad. his arm is amazing but his defense is nothing spectacular imo. even if they can get a young reliever like a david hernandez or a pedro strop i would be surprised.

give jones an extension, restructure reynolds into 3-4 year deal, sign guthrie to a 2 year extension are 3 things i would start working on as soon as the season ends. i'd try and see if we can't dump markakis and gregg salaries this offseason although most teams probably wouldn't want either of them even if we paid some of their salaries.

only 3 pitchers on this team i would even consider for the starting rotation next year are guthrie, hunter, and britton. they need to sign 2 or 3 starters this offseason as well as 1-2 guys like a kazmir or willis to minor league deals. i'd go after cj wilson first and then take a good look at guys like edwin jackson, jason marquis, and maybe a couple other free agent pitchers and see how much each guy would cost.

i like strop and johnson in the pen. gregg is going to be here so no choice but to include him. patton and berken either look great or shitty but i guess they are the best we have to work with. rapada needs to be in the bullpen as a LOOGY he is incredible against lefties. i would put simon in the bullpen and maybe give bergesen a good look there as well. although we always fail at signing relievers getting 2 or 3 low cost guys to pitch in the pen could help a lot.

as for the everyday players hardy, jones, wieters, and reynolds are the only ones i would lock into the opening day lineup next year. reynolds at 1b or dh and only 1b or dh, the 3b days are over.
davis and andino are fine backup infielders, i'm alright with angle as the 4th of although i would pursue a free agent to fill that role, same deal with tatum as with angle.
i'm also cool with reimold in rf or lf, i'd welcome a healthy luke scott back as the dh and the dh only with open arms.
