I remember when Andrew Krystal said the Jays would never go after Canadian players. Well the Jays just got another one today, Trystan Magnuson, who'll likely pitch out of the bull pen next season.

Maybe he never meant it in that way.
He probably meant it as a priority basis. Like, the organization can care less whether its based on Canadians or not.
But I dont think he means like.... if two players are identical theoretically the Jays would purposely go for the non-Canadian over the other player (Canadian)

Well he was arguing that Canadians wouldn't support a Canadian player more than an American (Lawriemania disproves that already) so they wouldn't go after Canadians, but AA has consistenly gone after players that are Canadian.

Our attendance won't get better just because of canadians

I would have to argue against that. I think AA think it will,
However, obviously team wins >>>>> canadian status to fans.
But I dont think we'll see team wins or playoff contention any time soon, so I think this is a good little step forward

Yes it will and it did. When Lawrie came up attendence went up, despite Toronto being all but out of the playoffs. Merchandise sales skyrockted, as well as media coverage. Canadian players help sell the brand and is brining in younger fans.

we've had other canadians in the past, but they weren't as good as Lawrie was when he called up

If the Toronto Blue Jays want to improve their bullpen, there are plenty of big names on the free agent market.

According to ESPN.com, the Blue Jays have discussed signing one of the free agent relievers available, including Jonathan Papelbon, Heath Bell or Joe Nathan.

Another possibility the Jays are reportedly looking at is acquiring Andrew Bailey from the Oakland A's.

Should the Jays sign Papelbon, they would have to give up the 17th overall pick in the June amateur draft.

Last season, the Blue Jays were 26th in the majors in saves with 33 on 58 opportunities.

Papelbon was the best of those guys sadly.
Eh, Nathan is not going back to his old form.
Bell is a NL pitcher and used to the spacious Petco and the 'dangerous' NL West bats

I would be happy with Andrew Bailey, even if we gave something up like Snider and Mcguire.

Do not want Madson, Nathan or Bell

edit. I wouldn't mind giving Broxton a deal as well
