this is honestly the saddest thing i have ever watched. Hunter, Palmer, Dempsey were all GREAT friends with Flanagan.

Im trying to hold back tears.

MONKTON, Md. -- A Major League Baseball champion and award-winning former Baltimore Orioles great was found dead Wednesday.

Former Orioles pitcher and general manager Mike Flanagan was found dead on his northern Baltimore County property, WBAL-TV 11 Sports Director Gerry Sandusky confirmed through multiple sources close to Flanagan. He was 59.

Flanagan's body was found outside his house in the 15000 block of York Road in Monkton shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Sheldon Dutes reported from the scene that police had blocked the driveway to the property.

Police did not immediately identify the cause of death, but sources confirmed that Flanagan took his own life "despondent over what he considered a false perception from a community he loved of his role in the team's prolonged failure," Sandusky said.

The soft-spoken and well-liked left-hander grew over the years into a fixture in the Orioles organization. From 2002-08 Flanagan shared or held the top baseball executive position in the organization. During that time Flanagan, according to those closest to him, struggled with not being able to the job the way he wanted to do it, Sandusky said.

A relative confirmed that Flanagan has wrestled for some time now with the perception of fans and colleagues alike of his role in the team's failures.

he committed suicide because he thought people blamed him for the downfall of the orioles......this is really tragic, im very upset.
noone blamed him though......it was all angelos....

the reason is all speculation btw. Noone TRULY knows why he did it but that is the reason people are saying fits best.

unbelievable catch lol.
i know i have been down on Andino this year at times, but man has he been impressive over the past 2 months.
I love him as our utlity guy who plays 3-4 times a week next year. I still think he fits that role better, but i could see them going with him at 3B,2B etc. Its not like Roberts will come back healthy lol.
But man i am loving Reimold, Adams the past couple days as well.

The orioles are playing well just like they did last august september these past 3 days lol.

/e how about Adams defense so far?
Looking pretty fucking good!

I been an Andino fan since they got him and you been hatin all along :)

But yeah, I was telling my dad earlier I hope they don't start winning now and fuck themselves in the draft like they usually do.

If Adams and Reimold can finish up well I wonder what they will do going into next season. Hopefully they try and upgrade LF, move Reimold to DH, and cut Luke Scott. Most importantly they need to sign or trade for a starter IMO.

C, SS, CF, and RF are the only locks for next season.
1B can be Reynolds, Davis, or a FA/trade
2B can be Roberts, Adams, or Andino
3B can be Reynolds, Andino, Davis, or a FA/trade
LF can be Reimold, Scott, Davis, or a FA/trade

agree with all that. I really would not mind if they went with Roberts and just had Adams and/or Andino as the backup 2B either on bench or AAA(Adams)
Regardless they need one of these guys to step up and show they FULLY deserve a spot. Andino has already taken the first step at that. Reimold has shown potential but needs to keep the momentum going.
Adams has been impressive so far and needs to keep it up this entire season til the end.

I really am lost on Luke Scott. I could see them keeping him or letting him go/trading him. We shall see what our hopefully new GM thinks (or AM again ugh)

oh and i love Reynolds at first. He seems MUCH more comfortable there.
