Presumably, they are thinking that releasing that information would discourage the kids who looked up to him from using cocaine. The media reporting kept reiterating that apparently he was sort of a big deal to the Cuban community.
I'm not saying I agree with their decision to release it. But I will say that knowing about the circumstances surrounding Len Bias' death did affect my personal decisions regarding cocaine use. His death sparked a change in how cocaine was perceived nationally.
