The Red Sox made a number of roster moves Friday, including the promotion of top prospect Michael Chavis.
On Thursday night, the team placed Dustin Pedroia on the injured list and recalled right-hander Marcus Walden. On Friday, the team made a few more moves, including:
-- Eduardo Núñez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mid-back strain retroactive to April 18.
-- Right-handed pitcher Erasmo Ramírez was designated for assignment.
-- Infielders Tzu-Wei Lin and Chavis were recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. Chavis will wear No. 23.
If Chavis plays, it will be his major league debut. The infielder is the No. 1 ranked Red Sox prospect according to MLB.com. With Pedroia and Nunez on the injured list more than just Lin was needed in the infield, which is why Chavis has been promoted.
"It's only April" but we HAVE to win this series...
The Yankees are missing half their line-up so they are MUCH better than their record indicates.
Lose this series and the Rays will be 10 games ahead of us....
This is pretty much it
