The Red Sox made a number of roster moves Friday, including the promotion of top prospect Michael Chavis.

On Thursday night, the team placed Dustin Pedroia on the injured list and recalled right-hander Marcus Walden. On Friday, the team made a few more moves, including:

-- Eduardo Núñez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mid-back strain retroactive to April 18.

-- Right-handed pitcher Erasmo Ramírez was designated for assignment.

-- Infielders Tzu-Wei Lin and Chavis were recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. Chavis will wear No. 23.

If Chavis plays, it will be his major league debut. The infielder is the No. 1 ranked Red Sox prospect according to MLB.com. With Pedroia and Nunez on the injured list more than just Lin was needed in the infield, which is why Chavis has been promoted.

And I want them to bring up more. I live about 40 minutes from Scranton where the Yankees triple a team plays. I'm out in the country near the Poconos. I've taken my family to several of there games. They Yankees got hitters and pitchers on there triple a team. They are very very dangerous. You see the 5 players they just brought up. I gaurantee you they were hungry and ready bud! We need all of them right now to be honest. Cause we suck!
