Apparently the Jays are serious contenders for the next Japanese phenom pitcher, Yu Darvish. He'll have to throw serious money at him though, hopefully not as much as Matsuzaka as he didn't turn out so well and they speant way too much on him. Good thing is Toronto is one of the most Asian friendly cities with regards to keeping culture in the Western World.

I read somewhere that he is already making 4mil/year where he plays now. If he is looking for 1x mil/year I dont think its worth it in my opinion.

They Jays would be paying probably 30 mil to talk to him, none of this 50 mil Dice-K got then 10+ mil a season, may not be worth it but I'm sure they would pay it if he chooses Toronto which is a possibility, strong Persian and Japanese communities in Toronto.

I am leery about bringing over high prices Japanese players. Sad game today, when the bats are dead, they are really dead.

Interesting; I doubt he would be traded under any circumstances because I think management has invested too much publicity into him as "the team leader" and so on. I think they are valuing his on the field production as much as his ability (perceived or otherwise) to draw people into the Roger's Centre.
