2 months of hot hitting is worth $330 million? what about his defense?
Didn't know a season average comes from 2 months of hot hitting. Interesting.
He only gets paid $25mil dollars AAV. The value he's bringing in from his play this season already paid for a couple seasons on the Phillies have to pay him on back-end, not to mention merchandise and tickets already sold. Nobody would watch this pile of shit team for the last 3 seasons without him.
The metrics says his defense is terrible but it doesn't feel that way when you watch him play.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, but defensive play is definitely factored into WAR calculation.
It's just baseball-reference uses has one defensive metrics to calculate their WAR and fangraphs uses another.
Fangraphs has Harper favored and leading in WAR by NL position players by a little bit, baseball reference shits on him for his defense in their WAR calculations.
ESPN refers to bWAR.
And that's besides the point, he could be dogshit in the outfield defensively and still be one of the most valuable players if he's hitting/getting pitched around like this, it doesn't change that.

Pretty weak NL mvp race tbh.
None are even close to an 8 WAR. Right now outside of Tatis the other candidates have mid 5 WARs with not many games left.
The last person to win an NL MVP with a sub 7 WAR was Jimmy Rollins in 2007. The only reason he won was because David Wright and Pujols didn't make the playoffs. They both had 8+. Oddly enough Rollins own teammate had a much better year (Utley) with a 7.8 WAR and still only got 8th.
Utley broke his hand that season too, too bad people didn't use saber metrics back then to see how GOAT the dude really was.
David Wright didn't win because the mets had one of the biggest collapse of all time and part of it was due to Jimmy Rollins.
