Was not.

Verlander had better ERA, better WHIP, more Ks, the same fWAR, better BAA, 7 more starts with 2ER or less.

Porcello won because he had the highest run support in the whole damn League. 7.63 runs/game, compared to 4.35 for Verlander.

I think you can make a strong argument for any of them. It was a pretty underwhelming year for AL pitchers. I obviously would have voted for Verlander as he was my guess to win earlier in this thread, but I don't see a huge problem with Porcello being picked
