I was just saying I don't like Heyward. Didn't realize I was arguing with anyone.

Polanco and Marte haven't even hit arbitration yet.

Bryce Harper on the best contract in the world, according to this logic. Shit barely even counts

ok. i like how u kids talk about only looking at stats and literally only thing u look at is WAR.
he has looked completely dumbfounded at the plate all season and his outfield play hasnt even been that great.

take your circle jerk of friends somewhere else. its like when one person is having a debate you all run to come back them up.
even if the point is fucking awful like heyward being worth anywhere near the ridiculous overpay

i havent watched every cubs game, but from what i see, he doesnt look dumbfounded at the plate.

the dude is hitting piss rockets right at people left and right, and despite the cardinals having the shittiest defense in the league, they always seem to make a web gem on heyward night in and night out.

ive never called him an offensive god, but the cubs arent spending money on him to be one. the line drives and hard hit balls will eventually find holes and his bad luck will even out, along with a summer in chicago where wrigley will gift him some extra home runs.

to say he looks dumbfounded is ridiculous. hes pressing after hitting into a lot of bad luck to start the year.

It aint like the dude has a 1-2 week slump. he's been an average hitter his whole career and all he's done is regress and he's still young.

he has potential to improve, but if he doesn't, holy fuck they messed up.

I think WAR is probably one of the most important stats in baseball, but you realize that WAR is calculated differently by different companies that calculate it? It's the most convoluted stat that is twisted to make a player appear better or worse than they actually are.

At the end of the day Heyward is an excellent defensive player, and a 100% mediocre hitter. Hence my Jose Inglesias reference. Great defense, mediocre hitting. Does that warrant $20 million a year? especially locked in for 8 years? lol fuck no.

Fangraphs and BBRef both have him as a 6 WAR player

thats your opinion, but a player whos one of, if not the best at his position defensively along with being a great baserunner and mediocre hitting is in fact worth 20mil in todays baseball.

this isnt 2000 anymore, look at what #4 starters are being paid nowadays. 20mil a year isnt what it used to be.
