The Astros, if things go well, should compete for the AL West by 2016 or 2017.

1-0 Rangers after 7 innings. We're going to waste a fine start by Brett Olberholtzer (7 Ks).

I thought the Rangers starting pitching was mediocre after Yu Darvish?
It's been amazing all series long. It could be the Astros lineup is just bad.

I don't know why George Springer isn't starting in right field and hitting third.
It made no sense to send him back to the minor leagues after spring training.

It seems like the Astros are content to just have a 70-92 kind of season in 2014. Avoiding 100 losses for a fourth straight year. If they called up Mark Appel and George Springer, maybe even Jonathan Singleton and a couple more young arms who are more polished, I'd still have a little hope to win about 80 games. Maybe make a push for .500 this year.

I hate not improving sooner. Being patient sucks in baseball.

I want to surpass one AL West team this year, or at least stay close to one of them in the standings, but it's not looking likely unless we score more runs. At 5-8, we're already 1.5 games behind the 6-6 Rangers and 6-6 Angels. Maybe the 6-5 Mariners will start to tumble a little bit.

It would have been huge if we had won at least one of those 1-0 losses against the Rangers. It looks like we'll be buried in the standings by June. By then I'll be bored with this 2014 MLB season other than betting on games. I want some excitement and fun to look forward to with the Astros. I guess they did a good job competing on the road against the Rangers in all three games.
