Leon hitting? This team is about to be firing on all cylinders

not sure what the biggest division lead we had earlier in the season was, but the most i can remember was 4.5 games. We are getting back to that territory

Joe Kelly has been so good other than game 1 fail

just heard this, and holy shit you aren't kidding. I've only seen him have one slightly bad outing after that first disaster, and it wasn't completely his fault (he inherited base runners and walked in a run etc).

Joe Kelly: "0.35 ERA since April 1st, minimum 20 innings pitched. leads the league in that category."

Every AL central team is under .500 right now. I know we're a long ways away, but it's not unthinkable that the Red Sox could end up with 99 wins, but have to play a 1-game wild card game just to be able to face the top-seeded Yankees. Meanwhile, a .500 Indians team gets a free pass to a lower seeded ALDS ooponent.

WEEI talking about this now made me think of your post lol; imagine getting near 100 wins and playing a wild card game "play in" game.

If the AL teams finish where they are now, the Astros would have the 3rd best record yet get the most advantageous postseason position.

They will get homefield against Cleveland, then face the winner of Sox/Yanks ALDS. If the wild card team ends up prevailing in that ALDS (which isn't unlikely considering the teams seem evenly matched), then Houston lucks their way into home field advantage again in the ALCS. Meanwhile, the Sox/Yanks would both have to go through 2 harder teams (each other, then Astros).

Just goes to show how dumb the new WC system is that the 2nd seed is better than the 1st. At least the previous format had a rule that 2 teams from the same division couldn't face each other in the ALDS, so they avoided this problem.

All about TV ratings IMO. I think the new WC games were getting good hype/viewership.
