We got o'hoppe for marsh, not mad about that one, he coulda won ROTY had he not got hurt.
And I really don't see how he's worth every penny. Look at his career numbers, he's never been a high average guy, or an on base guy. His career obp is 19 points higher than what his BA is right now.. so if they hired him for power and rbis, good luck with that, he will never hit more than 25hrs again, and he'll be lucky to hit 20 this year at his current pace. So I really don't know what the Phillies are actually paying him to do.
I'll talk about shohei and trout and the angels after you can actually tell me what the Phillies are paying him 25m a year to do.
Are we talking about the same player here? You do realize in 2021 with Cincinnati, the season before he joined the Phillies, Castellanos hit .309/.362/.576 and a .939 OPS with 34 HR's and 100 RBI, right? All-Star and Silver Slugger that season. Also, you say he doesn't hit high average? He's hitting .290 over the past 5 years (since 2018).
Look at what he's doing this season (just mashed another 411 foot homer like 30 min ago fyi). He's leading the Phillies in Batting Average, RBI's, Runs Created, Doubles, SLG, OPS, and second in HR's to only the reigning NL HR champ Kyle Schwarber. So yeah....that's what they're paying him for. He should be an All-Star without question, he's having a great season and looks every bit like the player they wanted when they signed him.
Also FYI - They're paying him $20M a season, not $25M. They signed him to a 5 year/$100M contract. His salary this season isn't even top 50 MLB....safe to say he's well worth it 😉
