I should rephrase that, Jones isn't as valuable to the Braves as Prado is to the Braves, last year was the first year Jones was even able to beat Prado in WAR, and it took Prado a terrible staph infection for it to be the case, why would we want to replace Prado with a guy with an OPS .010 points better than Franceour and can't even back up 3B. Especially for Prado+JJ+ a Prospect. Tucker you are fooling yourself if you think they made the right move by turning down that alleged offer.

is it? An average CFer with below average on base skills is worth more than a .300 career hitter who can play every position and has a higher career OPS to a team that has a 40 year old 3B and the best CFer by WAR in baseball over the past 3 years?

ill just repost this here:

To further illustrate my point, in the hopes of getting people off this Adam Jones bandwagon, i will post some stats, HE IS NOT GOOD, he is extremely overvalued by the O's front office and most speculative fans who think he is good defensively because he makes a few highlight plays

Here is Prado

Here is Jurrjens

Now why the hell would you trade both of those for these stats? (which belong to Jones)

Here is Jones:

Not only would it be a huge mistake to trade for someone who isn't as productive as Prado, but is also not nearly as Versatile and would create another hole for us to fill to back up Chipper

and you got to remember apparently we ALSO added a prospect to the deal

frankly, i dont really care about the Braves side of the deal. For the Orioles, It does nothing for us. I dont care whether we win 70 or 75 games. Doesn't matter.
making that trade does nothing for the orioles in terms of making them a winning ballclub now or in the future.

All 3 of the players are vastly overrated anyways,

It does matter if 70 wins gets you a higher draft spot :D

what I mean is, if the O's made that deal, they could probably get more prospects for Prado + Jurrjens seperately (+ the prospect atl sent over) than Jones could get himself

The Orioles could draft 1st overall and mess it up. It's all about development of players at this point. But they need to trade Jones for young upside type players. JJ and Prado are essentially the same thing as Jones. Good players who probably are not getting much better than what they already are, if not getting worse.

thank god lol

Coming in off the ledge, we get this rumor shoot-down from Mark Bowman:

Quote
The Braves expressed interest in Adam Jones. But they did not offer Martin Prado and Jair Jurrjens to the Orioles in exchange for the outfielder. [...]

The source said the Braves were told Jones was unavailable when they asked about him a couple weeks ago. The Orioles later called the Braves to see if they would trade Prado, Jurrjens and two other “premium guys” in exchange for Jones.

The Braves said they were not interested and the two clubs have not had any recent discussions about these players.
