Jason Heyward: Is he worth this ridiculous money that people are saying he's going to get?
I've heard some reports saying he may receive anywhere from $160 million to $200 million.

Chris Davis isn't even going to receive that much!
Jason Heyward showed some nice power in 2012.

Over the last three years, he has very poor home run totals and RBI numbers.
Good batting average this past season but an .OPS under .800.
An .OPS under .800 in four of his last five seasons (not counting his hyped up and solid rookie year).

I mean, he's good but $200 million dollars good?

He's one of the most valuable players in baseball. Yes.

Do you even watch baseball outside the Astros?
You're as bad as Buck man.

Asdrubal Cabrera and Neil Walker to the Mets

Don't really know much about either players, any opinions?

Meh. Very middling most likely. (pardon the pun)

Not a big fan of spending 2/18 on Cabrera just to displace Wilmer @age 24. imo he gets too much hype from his power when he struggles to get on base.
He only would be a very small upgrade if they repeated their recent numbers.

Walker is very similar to Murphy on paper.
That was a solid deal in my book. (swapped out Niese and his similar contract)

His rookie season he was. People compared him to Ken Griffey Jr.
I wouldn't even say he's been that much better than Carlos Beltran in his prime.
Even Carlos Beltran had a Godly postseason run back in 2004 which aided his big contract.

I've watched him and I like him. But what's so special about him? He's a fine player but I wouldn't call him great.

And to be fair, Beltran's postseason was historically good that year in 2004: He hit .435 with 8 home runs in the 12 games (we went a full 5 and 7 games in the NLDS and NLCS but lost in Game 7). He also flashed amazing defense and was a vacuum in center field. It's a bad comparison for me to make.

Jason Heyward is not a five-tool player like Carlos Beltran was in his younger days.

I just don't see the numbers there to justify Jason Heyward making as much money on a long-term contract.
He better be a 30-30 player or an all-star every year. He was an all-star in 2010 (one year). He's won three gold gloves.

It's not hard to find a good right fielder and pay way less for him. I was reading an article with a frustrated Cardinals fan talking about how overrated he is and how he'd help the team more if he played center field instead of right field.

I'm not saying he's overrated just that for the money being talked about ($160 to $200 million), I'd expect a lot more, especially offensively. I would certainly be thinking of a five-tool player as well. Not just a three-tool player.

What does Beltran have to do with anything? Useless.
He's posted back to back 6.5 WAR seasons...Which was good enough for the 15th best player in the majors this year.

It's not all about offense mr. box score warrior.

Oh and he's only 26...he's just scratching the surface.

Also Madmartigan you say Heyward only had a good rookie season?

He posted higher WAR the last 2 seasons...lmao

Fair enough. I knew somebody would bring that up.

Maybe the Angels will sign him and he'll kick our ass numerous times per year and become the new Albert Pujols.

Angels, Cubs and Cardinals. It's a three-team race for him now.

WAR isn't something I like to use like most baseball nerds do. He's not a five-tool player. Doesn't hit for enough power or drive in enough runs. He's been very average, to below average, the past three seasons in that department.

Once again box score warrior, he's 26 and just entering his prime.

Watch the games not the box scores

You act like the dude is batting .220 for his career
