I got a good kick out of this article. Comparing the 55-107 Astros to the two teams playing in the 2012 World Series. In late May it wasn't that laughable.

Comparing the Astros to the World Series teams

After the games on May 25, the Astros were 22-23, their high-water mark for the season.

A game and a half ahead of the Astros were the San Francisco Giants at 24-22.

A game behind the Astros were the Detroit Tigers at 21-24.

The Giants and Tigers meet tonight in Game 1 of the World Series. The Astros will be watching.

Things changed drastically after May 25, of course.

The players quit on Brad Mills. And then they gutted the team and traded away any player with a high salary. It gives you hope for the future though. We actually had a better record after the first two months of the season than the Angels, Athletics and Mariners -- three of our new division opponents. Maybe we can go into 2013 with something to look forward to besides Jonathan Singleton and Jarred Cosart making the 25-man roster. I think Delino DeShields Jr. will make the team soon as well. The Astros will be loaded by 2014 or 2015 once Carlos Correa, Domingo Santana and Ariel Ovando are everyday players. We will draft Mark Appel number one in the 2013 draft in June.

We'll have our two top starters in the rotation for the next 10 years with Jarred Cosart and Mark Appel. Not to mention Lucas Harrell as a solid number three. Our infield may become the best in baseball. Jose Altuve is already an all-star and I believe Jonathan Singleton and Carlos Correa will both become superstars as well. New manager Bo Porter will get them to play hard all season long. If things go well the Astros may win the AL West by 2016. That should be our goal. Become a playoff contender and good team from 2016 to about 2027. Just like they did from 1994 to 2005.

The Astros are going to take off soon. They've got some exciting and elite prospects on the way up...

Not to mention a ton of financial flexibility. When the time is right, the Astros will be able to add a couple solid free agents. They've got the lowest payroll in baseball right now. So they have a ton of wiggle room to work with in free agency.

We're not going to be like the Pirates. A losing team for 20 years in a row. The Astros will have a winning record by 2016 maybe 2015.

Astros’ new logo prematurely unveiled over Web

http://blog.chron.com/ultimateastros/2012/10/26/47974/

The big H and star are finally back.

After months of promises and weeks of promotional teases, the Astros’ new logo was publicly unveiled Friday afternoon — at a local sporting goods store, with no fanfare and without the support of Houston’s Major League Baseball team.

Thanks to Twitter, the Internet and an eager local fan, the Astros’ 2013 logo hit the Web for all to see.

“I saw this shirt at my local Academy not too long ago,” tweeted Ernest Moreno (@astromo1977) about 1 p.m. Friday, referring to a store near Interstate 45 and Edgebrook along the Gulf Freeway.

Within an hour, Astros blogs and sportslogos.net — a widely read Toronto-based website that archives professional sports logos — had picked up on Moreno’s find. An Astros spokeswoman soon confirmed the leak. And a long-planned official launch party next Friday at Minute Maid Park — highlighted by scheduled appearances from Astros players such as All-Star Jose Altuve and 2012 No. 1 overall draft pick Carlos Correa — lost some of its pop.

According to Academy, a limited quantity of shirts bearing the new logo were released at Houston-area locations. The product was removed and is no longer for sale.

The tweeted photo displayed a dark-blue T-shirt and a large five-point star in two shades of orange, topped off by an equally large white capital “H.” The image doesn’t just sound familiar: It is. The Astros’ new logo is highly similar to the dominant logo worn by Houston teams from 1965-1993. It’s being rolled back out during an unprecedented time of change for the organization, which has recorded 213 combined losses the last two seasons and overhauled much of its staff.

I don't know if somebody posted this already but the Astros new logo was leaked yesterday morning at an Academy store here in Houston.

It looks exactly like the logo they wore from 1965 to 1993 with just a few minor changes at best. I like it myself but it doesn't seem new to me. The Astros will unveil their new uniforms and mascot on Friday. Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa will be in attendance to model the jerseys.

Hopefully the uniforms will look a lot different, LOL. I'm going to try and get a new Astros cap soon. May as well dust off my old ones though.

The new jerseys will ultimately make or break the logo. We'll see on Friday, November the 2nd.

The logo looks really bad to be honest. I love the old uniforms though...but oh God the logo makes the Astros look more and more like a minor league team than they already are LOL

Best wishes for the AL transition, love the free wins.

The new cap is supposed to have an orange bill instead of all navy blue so it's going to look more colorful than the old one. Also the new uniforms will have some orange outlining with the numbers on the front of the jersey from what has leaked out so far.

These were leaked out images a few weeks ago in the Houston Chronicle as part of their promotion. You couldn't see any of it, but somebody had enhanced the photo using special effects on their computer. They were 100 % right about the logo. So the uniforms will probably be something like that. I'm guessing that will be the home white jersey.

We'll be able to see the full set up on Friday. Just six more days away. I like the way it looks actually. The orange layering coming out of the sleeves is making it look more stylish and almost old-school like. I almost feel like I'll be watching a team from the 60s or 50s playing.

Also the Cardinals are not interested in re-signing Lance Berkman. He may retire or sign a two-year deal with the Astros to become our full-time DH.

Friday can't get here soon enough. I need to see the full uniforms, home and road, along with their Holiday and Sunday alternatives as well. I love the logo because I was always a fan of the retro ones anyways. But I need to see the entire thing before I make my final judgement. It's driving me crazy now. Also the new mascot seems like over-kill to me. They went from Junction Jack to Orbit. Those were two of my favorites. What kind of creature are they going to dig up this time?

Astros’ logo leaks again; MLB says Sandy contributed to error

http://blog.chron.com/ultimateastros/2012/10/30/astros-logo-leaks-again-new-hat-at-official-site/

For the third time in less than a week, images from the Astros’ rebranding have hit the web early.

Tuesday’s leak — which displays Houston’s new hat and logo with players from the 40-man roster — comes via Major League Baseball and Astros.com.

MLB apologized Sunday for the “premature, online availability of officially-licensed product featuring the new Astros logo.”

Houston will hold an official launch party at 6 p.m. Friday at Minute Maid Park.
