luke scott had a bad throw on a grounder hit to him. he threw it to guthrie as guthrie ran to cover first but threw it too hard.

after that they got a single and a home run.

pretty excited to watch matusz pitch although i am limiting my expectations

he may only be average and go 5ish innings, since it is his first start and all

yea it does. not necessarily for him, but the Front office and maangement might not push him as hard this first outing.
Im sure matusz is fully capable already.

The whole reason he pitched another rehab in AAA was so that he wouldn't be limited to a certain amount of pitches or innings in his first start. He will be able to throw 90+ pitches and pitch as many innings as he can. They aren't going to take him out in the 5th inning if he has 80 pitches.

well yea if he goes only 80 through 5 he wont, but lets say he goes like 90 through 5. i could see them not letting him pitch the 6th.
i dunno, i think they are going to be cionservative (i also hope i am wrong).

If him, Arrieta, or Britton threw 90 in 5 innings I would highly doubt Buck would let any of them come back out. I don't know why but he's extremely conservative with the young starters. Only time he ever let one of them get a pitch count high was Tillman.

at some point though they gotta either cut it down or be worked harder. I personally think Arrieta could throw 120+ every game and be fine if they just let him (when he is pitching good at least)

The only 2 things I don't like about Buck is the track record bullshit and how scared he is of letting a young pitcher pitch.
