Why didnt he just go to second base? ... would have been an easy out.

Honestly I think he was safe, but its too close to overturn

the problem i have with reviews in football is rearing its head in baseball now

the players are in the background while the cameras focus on the umps. All the fans are staring intently at the ump to see what arm motion he makes to know the outcome of the game

The game should be structured so that fans watch the players, not the umps

All I'm saying is: For all the benefits of having a review/challenge system, people should be aware that there are downsides as well.

When I started watching football, fans were able to cheer if they saw a player walk into the endzone with the ball in his hand. Sure there were penalties that could call it back, but that wasn't a huge deal. As time goes on, it's becoming more and more that we have to temper our enthusiasm for 5 minutes while we wait for commercials then see the ref come out and saw the results of the review, THEN the crowd can go wild.

I see your point but I really don't mind, sometimes it's annoying other times it adds to the suspense.

Yeah i agree, wouldve been an out at 2nd NESN announcers mentioned that too.

They gave an explanation that the ball was already in the inside of the mit so its an out? Idk i was half paying attention.

isnt the point if a review to get it correctly though? obv the time it takes to review to will have some negative effects but all that stuff bout fan experience and what not is invalid if the whole point of a review is to ensure the correct call is made. Like watcher said, what else can they do?
