Nah I wouldnt. Sale is elite and has a team friendly contract. But it would cost way to much to get him. In 2-3 years hes going to begin to decline. Schwarber is the scariest bat in the game. Would be to painful to send him away.

also, even if in 2-3 years he does BEGIN to decline, he'll be pitching at a very very high level for 5 years, which is the exact window the Cubs have to win a championship right now.

Schwarber would be better suited for an AL team; sure his bat is great (albeit not the scariest in baseball) but he will also give up his fair share defensively (especially now a serious knee injury). The Cubs window is now until about 2020-2021 as Benny said; that is when Bryant, Rizzo, and the rest of the class are FA's. If I had a chance to land Sale for his prime years to pair with Arrieta and Lester.. no sane person would say no even at the cost of Schwarber. Baez is capable of producing at the same level as Schwarber and much much much better defensively.
