ATLANTA (AP) – A Tennessee man who said he sustained traumatic brain and spine injuries after falling from a deck at Dan Uggla’s house has filed a lawsuit against the Atlanta Braves player, the building contractor and the house inspector.
The lawsuit was filed by Charles Grogan on Aug. 22 in Williamson County Circuit Court in Tennessee. It seeks $5 million in damages from Uggla, the second baseman for the Braves, inspector Jerry Black and Classic Southern Homes.
Uggla told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution there was no animosity between him and Grogan but didn’t comment further on the litigation.
Grogan says he was leaning on a second-story railing at Uggla’s home when it failed. He says he fell about 15 feet below to the concrete below, suffering spinal fractures and a traumatic brain injury.

The Atlanta Braves have called up some additional help from Gwinnett, adding catcher J.C. Boscan and reliever Anthony Varvaro to the roster. Boscan should allow them to use David Ross as a right-handed pinch hitter in key situations (yay!), and the hard throwing Varvaro will give the Braves bullpen yet another power arm.
