i dont want to give a pick away for another reliever personally. I dunno who else they could get off the top of my head. But our first pick is protected so obviously they could upgrade in any position. ofc this all wouldnt matter to me if they signed balfour AND Lee. then i wouldnt care about the draft pick

I don't like giving away draft picks because the only way we are ever going to compete is to start drafting 10x better than we currently are. The fact of the matter is we aren't. We might get 1 guy early that will be good and then maybe every few years we will get a good player in the 2nd, 3rd, or 5th rounds. The Rays, Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays all draft 10x better than us. I have given up on any of the promises MacPhail said about scouting and international scouting.

So, long story short is it just doesn't matter to me anymore because I am 95% confident that we would draft someone who is at best a utility player in 4 or 5 years.

lol i hear ya. I don't have any confidence in them either, but I still know that they shouldn't be giving up draft picks. the Rays will have 11 before our 2nd pick, and will probably get about 6 MLB Talent players out of it. We would get like 2.

There is a better chance of us getting no future MLB starters than 2.

Markakis and Matusz are the only two first round picks we have got right in 9 years. The jury is out on Wieters. Machado looks he will be a star but it's way too early to tell.

Even if Wieters and Machado become super stars that is 4 out of 10 that end up good. Pathetic considering where we have been drafting in the last 9 years.

I didn't include 2010 draft because it's way too early to tell.
