I watch him everyday (being an O's fan), and he's 100% a completely different batter at the plate. Much more patient with a better eye (still going to be a 180+ SO guy), but he works his walks at least.
He already has 5 walks this season and is walking once per 3 strike outs as compared to once per 5 last year. He's getting good wood on the ball, just bad luck.
He won't turn heads, but he'll get his eventual first hit and end up batting in the low 200s with his usual 30 bombs and 200 strike outs.
2017 26 HR's, 2018 16 HR's with a .168 AVG. He's not getting better and trending from September to this year. He may of had a few better plate appearances of late, but I highly doubt he's going to bounce back to 30 bombs and low 200 avg.
He gives up on pitches he won't take. To say he has a better eye is not true. He doesn't even watch the ball all the way to the catchers hand.
I'm also an O's fan and live in Baltimore, but I just won't believe it till I see it at this point. At least he has the best possible candidates in Mike Elias and Sig Mejdal to give him all the tools to try and turn him around.
I'm still a fan and rooting for him to succeed, but he can't get out of his own head. It's all up to Chris Davis at this point and the amount of pressure he puts on himself.
