Wow the M's gave up on carson quick

I feel like the mariners make off-season moves just for the sake of making moves. There's no actual purpose to so many things they do.

Aroldis Chapman Allegedly Involved In Domestic Dispute
By Jeff Todd | December 7, 2015 at 8:54pm CST

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was allegedly involved in a serious domestic dispute in late October, Yahoo Sports’ Tim Brown and Jeff Passan report. The outlet says that it obtained police records relating to the matter.

According to those reports, says Yahoo, Chapman’s girlfriend told investigating officers that he “choked” her and pushed her against a wall. Chapman is also alleged to have discharged a handgun into the garage of his home.

There were no arrests in the incident. Chapmans attorney, Jay Reisinger, said in a statement to Yahoo that he and his client “vehemently deny the allegations as stated.”

The incident is the reason that a reported trade this morning to the Dodgers has been held up, according to Yahoo. Cincinnati has been aware of the matter “for some time,” Passan adds in an interview on MLB Network Radio (Twitter link). Major league baseball will investigate the matter, Brown and Passan further report.

An investigation obviously appears to be warranted under the new domestic violence protocol put in place between the league and the player’s association. Commissioner Rob Manfred can issue any punishment deemed appropriate “in light of the severity of the conduct,” after an investigation. Notably, neither criminal charges nor a conviction are required to support the imposition of discipline.

Cards trade Jon Jay to Padres for Gyorko + cash

not sure why they would need Gyorko or pay that much for him to be a backup.

Because we need a decent ultility infielder, and we lack power too. It's a good fit imo.

We have a shitload of outfielders and kozma is so fucking bad that we never sat peralta, so he wore down by the end of the year.

Pushing cruz and kozma out are vital to the health of yadi and peralta.

Cardinals plan to pay a utility player 9.5mil a year (even after the Padres sending cash) for the next 3 years + a buyout on a 2020 option.. when did they become the Dodgers.

Anybody else have that feeling Marlins ace Jose Fernandez is about to be traded sometime today or tomorrow? Things are picking up. The Marlins said they weren't going to trade him a few days ago. Now they're receiving every interested team's best offer for him. It could be interesting. If a team blows them away with a trade offer they'd be wise to take it if it's too good to pass up.

They went from 0 % chance of trading Jose Fernandez, to 40 % earlier this morning, to now, as one source put it, very likely the Marlins will deal him for the right price.

LOL, this is even more intriguing than the Aroldis Chapman fiasco.

I thought the hot stove league was going to be boring as usual.

Damn. Dodgers are being rumored to have increased their trade offer to the Marlins for Jose Fernandez: Two of their three top prospects according to Jon Heyman (Julio Urias is the name I heard being discussed), but nothing is concrete.

The Astros have jumped in the Jose Fernandez trade talks. We can probably drive the Dodgers price up and offer the Marlins a really strong package. The Yankees and Diamondbacks are the other two teams trying to acquire Jose Fernandez but aren't capable of offering what the Dodgers and Astros can offer.

Every time the Astros try to trade for a big name the Dodgers jump to the top of the list.
Aroldis Chapman (the domestic violence issue crashed that pretty fast) and now Jose Fernandez.

Damn Dodgers. We no-hit them this past season and now they are trying to no-hit us in the hot stove league.

Well, when the cubs and pirates decided to actually get good, the cardinals decided it was time to step it up.

Add that to the new tv deal the cardinals signed and the fact that maybe this trade was made in anticipation for moving kolten Wong + for a pitcher or outfielder.

It wasn't too long ago that gyorko was a solid prospect, and San Diego has a reputation of destroying hitters almost as much as Seattle.

Carp was so wore down last year, he took a week off for exhaustion lol. And look at how peralta performed over the last 6 weeks and tell me we don't need a good backup plan to rest our important players.
