Dallas Keuchel versus Barry Zito tonight. If the Astros lose they'll be 40-90 on the season. A mind-boggling 50 games under .500

If it wasn't for that fluke 3-1 win at New York last Friday, the Astros would be on an another 11-game losing streak. Not like 1-10 in their last 11 games is any better. A couple more weeks and they'll finally hit 100 losses. If they can only win two more games the rest of this year (unlikely) then that dismal 42-120 season is still possible. 47-115 is a better bet at this point.

I just want this season to end but at least we're about to go into September so this long and boring season will not last much longer. Astros owner Jim Crane says Major League Baseball will unveil the club's new uniforms and team logo after the season is over, but I'm assuming they'll schedule the exact date some time after the 2012 World Series is over. I'm also ready to embrace American League Baseball. I've always been a big fan of the full-time DH.

The Astros current payroll will be slightly under $20 million (lowest in all of baseball) as they part ways with Francisco Cordero (free agent) and Jed Lowrie (trade bait) this winter, the two highest-paid players remaining on their current roster. They probably will not be looking to spend any big money in free agency but signing Mark Appel will not be much of a problem if they elect to draft him number one overall. They've slashed over $40 million in payroll during the season.

Jonathan Singleton, Jared Cossart, George Springer, Delino DeShields Jr. and Paul Clemens have a great chance to make the team out of spring training next March as they make the 25-man roster entering 2013. Guys like Carlos Correa (17 years old) and Ariel Ovando (18 years old) will not be rushed to the big leagues but both of those young guys are going to be fun to keep an eye on over the next few years.

The infusion of exciting minor league talent will soon be on the way up for the Astros. I'm ready to watch Singleton play every day. He hit another walk-off homer the other night at Corpus Christi. This guy has a very high ceiling and is barely turning 21 years old in three weeks. He could become the next Ryan Howard. His power numbers are going to be special at the Major League level. He'll become our next superstar first baseman, something we haven't had since the days of Lance Berkman and Jeff Bagwell.

The Giants just won 6-4. Former Astro Hunter Pence hit a three-run homer in the top of the 1st and the Giants never looked back after taking a 4-0 lead. The Astros got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the 9th, but Jason Castro grounded into the game ending 3-6-3 double play as Javier Lopez picked up the save. Very nice defensive play by Giants' first baseman Brandon Belt to field it, turn it and catch it from the shortstop Brandon Crawford. The Brandon and Brandon tandem flashing some serious leather.

It's going to be Ryan Vogelsong versus Jordan Lyles tomorrow night as the Giants look to complete the three-game sweep in Houston.

The Astros will probably get swept by the Giants and drop to 40-91 on the season. A five-game losing streak before the Reds come to town with Joey Votto ready to return back into the Reds' starting lineup during the weekend series. The Astros will definitely be swept by the Reds as well.

So you may as well give the Astros a 40-94 record already. Save your time from watching the next four games. In fact, the Astros next 10 games: Giants, 3 with Reds, 3 at Pirates, 3 at Reds. They may lose all 10 and that would make it 14 losses in a row.

Just give the Astros a 40-100 record already. But we'll see. LOL

I miss you, Hunter Pence! I hope he does some damage in the postseason for the Giants.

That's why I told you that 42-120 isn't out of the question. They may only win two ballgames the rest of the year. LOL

Not even some nice eye candy can cheer me up the way this season has gone. By the way, I heard the Astros new uniforms will pay tribute to their old blue and orange jerseys (these). It will look something like that but with a more modern feel to it.

Or maybe it will be more like the ones they had in the early 90s. If they can somehow mix those two together it would look awesome. Not sure how the new logo will look like but hopefully it's something that will shine. I really liked the new Miami Marlins logo so I want the Astros new logo to be even better than that one.

The Astros are wearing their 1994 home jerseys tonight. Another throwback night at Minute Maid Park.

All we need is Bagwell and Biggio also. LOL

0-0 in the bottom of the 2nd. We're still in the game trying to avoid a 40-92 record. If we get a rare win tonight I would just wear those jerseys again tomorrow.
