Also, hopefully he puts some muscle on and adds gets his velocity back. He was throwing like 88-92 last season. When he came up as a rookie I could have sworn he was hitting 95.

I'd much rather see him 92 with movement rather than 95 with no movement at all.
You can't be in this league with a straight fastball. His confidence would be shattered.

However, I remember one game in Toronto where early in the game he was throwing 87-88 on his fastball, but later in the game he picked it up throwing 94-95 in the later innings.
Not sure if that was planned or not...

I remember seeing the low velocity on straight fastballs is what I'm talking about.

I don't know. I don't have nearly as much confidence in him as I do Matusz, Arrieta, Britton, and Bergesen.

I'm going to play the age game. Matusz, Arrieta, Britton, and Bergesen are all older. Maybe maturity and ego have to deal with this.
I'd like to see what Buck does first, then I'll have a stronger opinion.

Tillman reminds me of a few players. (im not actualy comparing him to them, but this is what i have noticed)

-It seems he takes a long time to get "settled in" or "wamred up". This may be why he picks up his velocity at the mid part of the game.
-When he uses his fastball as a secondary pitch to his cutter and curve, it actually is a very valuable pitch (See Texas game)
- His cutter and curve honestly could be his main pitch , and if he could harness his cutter more it could be deadly. His fastball seems to me that its just a location or setup pitch. That may be a good or bad thing.

I dunno, overall i guess i'm on the side who thinks tillman is going to become a great talent. I think he just needs to understand his pitching repertoire a little more, and Buck should help with that. Like you guys said, his Fastball i just too straight, and to0 me that means he needs to use his other pitches in a way to where he can trick the hitters better into thinking they are coming, then throw a fastball.

I think i just confused myself, but hopefully you guys got the point. I just chugged a cup of coffee, which was a bad idea.

Is it me, or does Jim Hunter suck as a play-by-play commentator?
I can stand Gary Thorne until he get some stats wrong, but Jim Hunter... ick.

jajajaja yes he is such a homer.

I went to school with his son, and even he admitted that his dad is a homer.
I dont mind Gary, he is okay.

That just made my day.
I always laugh at this call on the Corey Patterson grand slam against Texas.
Jim Hunter goes through puberty again during the broadcast. :D

Yeah you might as well wait a year or so, there is no way you guys will make the playoffs this year and if you did the Phillies are winning it.
