Dont love this trade for the Jays. I really really liked Hoffman and think it's quite a lot to trade for what's probably a 2-3 win upgrade at SS. They're also taking on a backloaded contract that will pay Tulo until he's 35. On top of that they'll now be forced to incluse Norris and Sanchez in any deal for a pitcher while their value is at its lowest.
They aren't really taking on a backloaded contract; they're just taking on an additional 4 years. Tulo and Reyes will make about the same through 2017 (when Reyes is a free agent) - Tulo 20mil/per year, Reyes 22 per year
Tulo's contract is pretty good actually and gets even less in 2020 (14mil) (of course his production may drop as well)
With that said, I agree I wouldn't like it if I were a jays fan. It solved no issues whatsoever. Sure the offense and defense got better; but come playoff time you can't rely on scoring 5+ runs against playoff caliber teams when teams aren't pitching there shitty 3-5's SP's.
And to give up Hoffman is a TON as I've said before.
