Why are the Rockies so bad? Weren't they a sexy pick to win the NL West before the season started?

I just want the Astros to officially lock up the 1st overall pick in the 2013 draft and the Rockies are still within striking distance.

Astros 36-75
Rockies 40-68

Houston is only 7 games ahead in the loss column. We should be 10 or 12 up by now.

At least the Cubs, Padres and Royals are further back so I don't really consider them a threat like the Rockies. The Astros should be the first team to 80 losses, 90 losses, 100 losses and maybe 110 losses. 120 losses is stretching it but not out of the question.

A four-game sweep for the Nationals. The Astros are back into a big losing streak again. They're about to clean up that first overall pick in 2013.

Astros 36-77
Rockies 40-69
Cubs 44-66

Two more weeks it should all be over. A comfortable 13 or 14-game lead in the loss column by then. It's at 8 now. A three-game series with the Brewers starting tonight. That should be an easy Brewers sweep, 6 losses in a row and a 36-80 record.

The only real question now. Is Jonathan Singleton a September call up? Or do you let the talented 20-year-old kid make the team out of Spring Training in March. He'll turn 21 years old in September and he looked really good with quick bat speed and a good sense of the strike zone in this past spring. He's hitting .280 with 14 bombs and almost 70 RBIs in the minors right now.

Brett Wallace has proven that maybe he can become our full-time DH next season in the American League - hitting .319 with 4 homers in limited at-bats playing first base since the Carlos Lee trade. Wallace has been platooning with Steve Pearce at first base but Pearce isn't going to be here next year.

I'm ready to see our infield of the future: Delino DeShields Jr. at third base (switching from second), Carlos Correa at shortstop, Jose Altuve at second base and Jonathan Singleton at first base. I think by 2014 all of those guys are playing together in the big leagues. Singleton will be up in 2013 and maybe DeShields Jr. also. Correa has to be two years away at the earliest.

The Astros will not be exciting to watch until the numerous young blood is called up. Add to that Ariel Ovando in right field and George Springer in center field. These two guys are going to be five-tool players. We've got better position players in the minors right now than we do on the big league roster. And all of them are ranging from ages 17 to 22 is the best part. It gives you hope for the future.

We just need more pitching prospects. We don't have a lot of elite pitching prospects outside of Jared Cosart and Paul Clemens. That is why I really want Mark Appel number one in the 2013 draft. He's going to be a Major League ready arm and could be up by 2014. The sooner the better. Our starting rotation in 2014 should be Cosart, Appel, Clemens, Norris and Lyles. We cam probably start a few journeymen in 2013 but long term I want to have an established five-man rotation.

Two straight one run wins over the Brewers. LOL, I was predicting an easy sweep for the Brewers also but I should have known since the Brewers are overrated (right Kargus!). But no way they'll win Sunday's finale: Gallardo versus Lyles. Brewers should spank us by 4 or more runs today.

No real harm done because the Rockies upset the Giants and Tim Lincecum, 3-0 final, during Friday Night's game and went 1-1 in that time.

Astros 38-77
Rockies 41-70

Still a 7-game lead in the loss column for the 1st pick. The Astros better hit 78 losses today. I hope the Rockies win against Barry Zito.

We got to create separation the rest of August, SBS. Because like I said, the Astros may play well in September after the September 1 call ups. If Houston starts to win these meaningless games all of a sudden the Rockies can become a real threat to take away our first overall pick in 2013.

The Astros have actually been playing hard lately despite the recent losing streak. Three of the four losses to Washington were by one run and they also got a win at Atlanta before that series. Once they start to call up the young talent from the minors they'll be a decent team capable of playing .500 baseball.

Not a bad game. Astros lost 5-3 and Marwin Gonzalez knocked in 2 RBIs. I thought they would get blown out. It was tied 1-1 going into the 5th as well. I had to double check to make sure Gallardo started. I have no clue how the Astros pounded out 10 hits today. Gallardo gave up 9 of the hits but also had 8 Ks. They took two out of three from the Brewers. Finally at 78 losses but the Rockies lost 9-6 to the Giants so they reach 71 losses.

I don't know which game is putting me to sleep. The Cowboys-Raiders 0-0 preseason game at halftime on ESPN.

Or the Astros trailing 3-0 to the Cubs in the bottom of the 5th on FSN Houston. Talk about lack of offense for these guys. I'm ready for the Texans game!

Going to switch channels to Lizard Lick Towing on Tru TV. At least that is more exciting to watch.

Alfonso Soriano smashed a two-run homer. Make it 5-0 Cubs in the bottom of the 5th. Was just about to change channels when I saw that blast. SBS, we got the first overall pick in the 2013 draft. The Rockies are leading 4-0 over the Brewers right now as well.
