Exact same ERA+ over the 3 years prior to hitting FA. Just take the L, bro.

The Athletics sent lefty Rich Hill and outfielder Josh Reddick to the Dodgers in exchange for young right-handers Grant Holmes, Frankie Montas and Jharel Cotton. They also shipped speedy outfielder Billy Burns to Kansas City for fellow OF Brett Eibner.

yeah did you see they already told him not to get on the plane cause he'd either get traded or sent down?

well how do the waivers work? can they trade people or is it just to claim someone released before another team has a shot?
cuz shit if they tried to trade him to the angels that shit would go thru immediately cuz last place.

only saying this cuz angels are prone to trading prospects or lack there of immediately. and we need a LF. highly doubt that would even happen but it was just an example scenario.

edit: and lol if they really told him that, rolfpuig.

Why do the Dodgers hate Puig so much? I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He's a canceer to any clubhouse and when you're a cancer and aren't producing; that's what happens.

Puig hasn't done shit offensively for the past couple years.

With that said, I do think a change of scenery would do him wonders.

He's actually hit really well since coming off the DL. He's also probably their best option defensively.

I just don't get how no team had interest in Puig when the Dodgers were so eager to rid themselves of him. Could have had him for pennies on the dollar. He may or may not be a cancer but teams have been able to put talent in front of ethics(Chapman!).

Club house cancer vs ethics is not comparable

This Melancon deal is growing on me.

Got rid of an elite closer that were were losing regardless. I like what I have seen of Felipe so far. His ERA is inflated this season because of a week span where he got hammered. His FIP is in the low 3s and before that bad week his ERA was in the high 2s. He has the stuff to maybe become our closer in the future. Worst case scenario he is a solid middle relief arm who isn't a FA until 2022. Also got Taylor Hearn who has even more potential than Rivero. He has starter potential but realistically he is staying in the pen. Trying to convert him would be a much longer and tedious project. Leaving him in the pen would make his ETA around 2018. Some scouts see elite closer potential in him.

I don't even look at this trade as selling. If anything we got very slightly worse with a chance of actually being better. Watson got his first save since Melancon left tonight. I am not worried about him at all. He will be a more than capable closer. After this trade we still have a good closer and we now have another power lefty who is actually pretty good. He might even end up being our long term closer.
