Oh I know that.. I've previously said I'd take 90 games of tulo+ but a utility guy for half a year and still would have more production than any full time SS.

but to me it doesn't even make sense from the Bluejays perspective.. they already had limited funds to improve the god awful pitching they have...

essentially they took on the same amount of money for 2-3 additional years. Tulo/Reyes make about the same annually but Reyes is a FA earlier.

As far as the pitchers the Rockies got back; I do like Hoffman and Castro seems to be a bullpen piece.

Reyes isn't worth anywhere close to the money he makes.

E: AA must be going all in right now. He has to with Bautista and EE basically at the end of their contracts. I expect 1-3 SP trades coming in the next couple days.

Report: Giants making strong push for Hamels

Not saying Reyes is worth the contract but to me this trade doesn't make a lot of sense unless the Toronto GM has something else in store to get some pitching.

They just basically committed to an extra 3 years of salary to a guy who probably will have troubles staying on the field having to play on Turf, losing 2 of their top pitching arms in the system (Hoffman is going to be really good if his new UCL stays clean) and didn't address any of Bluejays weaknesses.

Sorry but this is not a good trade unless they have something in store for like Hamels or Cashner/Kimbrel

Side note: Hoffman was drafted 9th last year even after knowing he needed TJ..

If this is a setup deal for the rockies i guess it makes sense

But why swap out a top 7 SS for a top 3 shortstop and all these prospects
