He has power potential for a slick fielding SS. I'm not getting my hopes up though. I'm just hoping for .270ish with 10 + HR ... even that would make it a HUGE upgrade over Izturis.

MacPhail is doing work at the meetings I will give him credit. He significantly upgraded 3B and SS by trading only trading relief pitchers. Two of them are unlikely to have a major league future, one of them might end up a good reliever, and the other will probably end up a very good reliever.

Biggest risk is Hardy is the injury factor though. I wonder if they plan on extending him to 3 years or so. I can't imagine he would turn down a 3/21 extension considering his injury history.

I really am starting to get a good feeling about this upcoming year. Not saying we will compete or anything crazy like that but if we can get Lee or LaRoche at 1B and a good reliever or two we might finally break the streak of losing seasons.

Would you rather see a left-handed or right-handed player at 1B? Honestly, I'd like to see Lee over LaRoche, but that's just me. I think he has the better glove of the two.

I don't really care to be honest. I mean I guess a left hander is probably more natural at the position but a good defensive right hander is good.

Over the last 3 years though Lee has a .290/.400/.472 line against lefties. LaRoche is .250/.293/.449 against lefties.

Lee would help the lineup against lefties which we are terrible against and his defense isn't that far behind LaRoche's. Lee is also a health and fitness freak so his age doesn't concern me to much on a 2 or 3 year deal.

With all the top lefty pitchers in the AL East (CC, Lee (he's going to NYY I imagine after the Crawford signing), Lester, Price) I think Lee's offense would help us more than LaRoche.

So, we lost Egan and Beato in the rule 5 draft. Egan was selected by the Brewers and Beato selected by the Mets. Egan was good in AA but sucked in AAA. Beato was good in AA. Beato has the best chance but I doubt either stick for a full season.

We took Adrian Rosario who hasn't pitched above A ball and is only 21 years old. The reliever had his best year last year when he went 5-0 combined between rookie ball and A ball with a 3.50era.

I imagine he is going to be traded. I can't imagine they have plans for a 21 year old who spent 3 seasons in rookie ball until finally getting to A ball last season on the 25 man.

I'm just glad nobody took Pelzer because I thought he was the one pitcher we left off that has a small chance at sticking in the majors.

just woke up.

good news: I really love the hardy/harris trade.

we trade jacobson and LOLHOEY. i forgot the guy even existed to be honest. not to mention we got 500k back in return as well.

As for the rule 5, i dont see egan and beato sticking a whole year. And same with the guy we drafted.
Also there is mutual interest between laroche and us.

I was listening to 105.7 the fan on my drive back from school just now. The dude on there seems to be pretty confident there will be some LaRoche news later in the day.

nice. Yea man i would be pretty happy if we got laroche or lee. I didnt expect them to get a 3rd/ss/1b all in the same off-season to be honest lol. They already exceeded my expectations

I think if we get LaRoche or Lee at 1B and can sign a good reliever we can finish in 3rd this year and finally break the losing streak.

We still need to sign a good reliever though to take Hernandez's spot.

yup i agree, and im confident that we will. I think our team is still very attractive for relievers because they know that we are not very deep in that area, meaning they are going to get a lot of time.

Uehara is amazing. His control is just phenomenal. That K/BB ratio last year ... I don't see anyone taking the closers role from him. Buck loves him. He will get hurt though and spend at least 30 days on the DL probably :(

If Gonzalez and JJ can both return to form and we can sign a guy like Gregg the back end of the bullpen can really be special. I hope Buck realizes something Trembley never did though, JJ can't come in mid inning. Everytime he comes in mid inning he sucks and when he comes in to start an inning after warming up while the O's are batting he is dominant.

yea JJ returning to form is HUGE. Gregg would be fine with me. And Buck probably already knew that, he seems to have been studying the O's for a long time lol. It's almost as if he knew he was comin ghere.
