Ya there was much reason to keep him either.

Guess their content with just receiving a comp pick for him? Seems strange they held onto Contreras for sure.

Love the Marsh pickup. Only 24, under team control for a few years, and he was the Angels top prospect last year. Much needed defense in the outfield that's for sure.

I'm bummed to lose Marsh, however, he isn't even that good of a defender lol.. -4 DRS in CF this season, which is more than likely where you guys will be playing him.

Good clubhouse guy, was well liked, good vibes/personality to him. I was a little shocked to see the Angels deal him tbh.

Marsh is plus-7 defensive runs saved in left field.

He’s minus-3 in centerfield.

Sample size is still small tho, only 76 career starts in center since the Angels have some guy named Mike Trout in center already.

And either way, he's a MAJOR upgrade over Herrera in center without question. He'll be the Phillies new every day center fielder with Schwarber in left and Harper in right once he returns.

Per Statcast, Marsh’s nine Outs Above Average are tied for second-most among qualifying outfielders in 2022.

His sprint speed (29.0 feet per second) ranks in the 91st percentile among qualifying players.

Happ still is under some club control so he isn't a FA after this season.

They could get a compensation pick for Contreras. He'll get a qualifying offer making him eligible for compensation if he leaves.

It just doesn't really make a lot of sense why both are still on the cubs unless the offers were really bad

Contreras doesn't fit in the Cubs rebuild and Happ potentially could but the cubs would probably be better off getting prospect capital back for him.

Let's dumb this down for you

Do you need us to paint a picture for you next?
