im bummed by this.

i hope he stays around the game in some facet, so much fun to watch his personality

Not to mention one of the better overall players of this generation.

Heard a crazy stat this morning:
Two players in history with at least 3,166 hits, 477 HR, .819+ OPS & at least 5 gold gloves.

Beltre & Willie Mays

Don’t get me wrong, Beltre was awesome but the stats always crack me up. 3166 hits 477 hr .819 ops.

Paxton has skills but it’s hard to judge this trade rn as it really all depends on his health

Those 3166 hits is a guarantee lock into Cooperstown and he will be a 1st ballot. It was more to point out that he's in pretty good company with Mays as being the only players ever to reach all of that. Just shows how good of an overall player he really was.

He was a god among-st boys if you consider the bat plus being the best defensive 3b of this generation and if it wasn't for Brooks Robinson; probably would be all time.

I actually thought he would try to stick around for another year or two and try for the 500 club but at the same time it was the perfect time to go while he still was semi productive.

Agreed with Paxton; at least at this point, I still like it from the Mariners end. Sheffield was a great haul for a guy who's got 2 years of control left, the injury history, and even when he was majority healthy and missed only 4 starts this year; he couldn't even throw more than ~160IP. He's good but he's no where near an ace.

Pretty solid deal actually..

Sure Cano is going to age pretty badly, but 1-2 years he will still be a useful player.

Diaz is a dominant closer, and probably the best in baseball and under control for 4 years.

Also it's not Jeff McNeil, it's Geurson Bautista, one of our flame-throwing relief prospects.

ye it's Bautista. Better deal for the Mets imo as Mariners are just offloading Cano's contract but won't do anything with it

Mets get 2 proven studs: arguably the best closer in baseball and arguably the best 2nd baseman in baseball
Mariners get cap relief and hoping that one of those prospects actually sticks in the MLB. Best case scenario is all stick in MLB and 1 is a perennial all-star like both the players the Mets received
