Just like Edwin isn't.
Or Francisco Lindor.
Or Machado.

All fantastic players doing fantastic things. Just not the most fantastic.

Hes 5th in offensive war, 12th in defensive war and third overall. He is in the convo with Altuve, Trout and Donaldson.

Altuve should win atm.

Clayton Kershaw #1 in WAR in MLB for pitchers and over a half win above #2. Hasn't pitched in a month.

Should he win Cy Young even though he'll have missed 6+ weeks of the season? I don't even think he'll be in contention for it.

I didn't say that lol. Amazing that you will keep saying Betts isnt in the conversation for MVP.

eh, mookie should definitely be in the conversation.

Id surely put altuve ahead of him, but trout isnt much ahead of mookie in my opinion.

Their offensive numbers are all pretty similar except trout has a higher OBP. Im not gonna give trout much of an edge defensively, simply because Betts isnt given the chance to play center. Its not that mookie cant play center. Just because trout has a shitty team around him doesnt give the edge, or at least it shouldnt. Not to mention that judging defensive metrics is pretty inconsistent right now.

1. Altuve

2. Trout
3. Donaldson
4. Betts

but betts could still make a push

I don't view top 5 as "in the conversation"

I think of in the conversation as someone who has a legitimate shot to win the award. Mookie has no shot at winning MVP over Altuve, Trout, or Donaldson.
