Not the stupid 12 year contracts teams give out, but a more reasonable length contract could work out

You give a 7 year contract and are thankful if you get 3 good years.

Pitching is hard and dangerous.

I would never give a long term FA contract to a pitcher if I were a GM

As valuable as a dominant pitcher might be, he's not an every day player.

I'll take a dominant EVERY DAY player in a hitter over a starting pitcher who doesn't even see the field more than what, like 20% of the season?

What good is 1 great hitter if your pitching will just give up the lead. Like previously stated, only 1 hitter can do so much.

Everytime someone goes out on the mound for us right now who isn't named Cole Hamels, I cringe because I know we're going to have to score A LOT of runs to win. Even Yu is struggling since coming back.

Yeah that's right, enjoy Hollywood Hamels baby.

I'll take someone who's going to play nearly everyday over someone that will play once every 5 days

What good is one great pitcher if you cant score any runs? Assuming the rest of your team is average is probably fair. Only 1 starter can do so much as well, and hes more likely to have a shorter shelf life and injuries.

Tough question if its including both playoffs and regular season.

Playoffs, a pitcher has more impact because the dominant ones typically pitch on shorter rest. MadBum won the world series for the Giants a few eyars ago.

But for an entire season, I will take a hitter.
