Do you think they would decide to call him up on the 31st but not make it effective until Friday so that he can't play in the postseason? I have a hard time believing that.

I did a bit of research and basically anyone in your system can be eligible for the post season as long as you are in the system by 8-31. If you are not on the 40 man, which he is not, he can replace someone on the 60 day DL like Fatboy Sandoval or Carson "my injury will plague the Sox all year long" Smith.

Yeah it's the same thing as what Raul Mondesi Jr. did for the Royals last year.. he didn't play a game at all during the regular season but replaced someone who was hurt and ended up getting an AB in the playoffs and was used a pinch runner.

Not sure if the person has to get injured during the playoffs though for that to happen though.

i really dont know all the moving parts for him to play in the postseason if needed, but they need to make it so hes on that roster should they make it. that shouldnt even be a discussion on their part.
