why cuz CJ had a down year?
Weaver, Richards (who will only miss like 2 starts), Shoemaker, CJ and Heaney/Santiago/Tropeano taking the 5th spot.
ill take that after your shitty rotation any day. who do you have after darvish?

Richards is better than Weaver, kid.

I am pointing out the flaws on your "best team on paper" statement.

starting pitching is average/good, with a great bullpen, and pretty much the same offense (minus howie kendrick) that scored the most runs in MLB last year.
howie kendrick scored 85 runs, and had 75 rbis, some of that production can be made up if calhoun stays healthy, as he missed like 40+ games due to injury, and still had 90 RS ad 58 RBIs in only 127 games.
if calhoun stays healthy, and whoever we platoon at 2B can at lease be decent, .250 ish avg, 50 RS, 40-50 RBI combined, that will make up for the loss of kendrick, as kendrick didnt exactly have a ton of pop last year.

Why do you assume no regression from your starters...?
Richards I can see continuing being filthy.

Weaver is going to regress some (age does that, don't fucking tell me he won't), Shoemaker likely will not match last year, and CJ will just repeat last year cause he sucks

So when you lead the league in offense from the season before, everyone is gonna repeat their numbers from the season before and stay healthy, and Kendrick will be replaced in full.

That generally doesn't happen. It's safe to assume you won't repeat the #1offense, but if you do great.

The rotation has huge question marks, so I see any of 4 teams capable of winning this division.

3rd place team talking shit on a playoff team after a few additions.
just like last season, when they got cano and everyone had angels pegged to finish 4th and M's to make the playoffs.
nothing new here, just have to wait 6 months for the M's fans to get rekt.

Lol, I never said they would make the playoffs last year. I actually said I expect nothing from them last year. The Angels got lucky last year that they won so many games. Their run differential for the first 2/3 of the season didn't match up with their record. That said they still should have made the playoffs and possibly won the penate.

I'm not even saying the mariners will be the better team, just that on paper they are listed as better than the angels, who are still projected to be a very good team. (1 game worse than the mariners). You can't expect the same luck to carry over, just like we can't expect to get another Chris Young. Both teams look solid with some questions. But on paper, you're the interior team. Deal with it. ;)

um says who?
the couple of articles ive read have the angels as a favorites in the AL west, as well as best record in the AL. they got mariners as a 90 win team, and 1st WC spot. but not the favorites for the division.

edit: ohh im guessing ur talking about fan graphs.
well thats kind of weak, i dont see all mlb teams winning over 70 games, esp the phillies, and only 2 winning 90+ games. but w/e floats your boat.
